Electricity Dependence and Energy Conservation

Why are we so dependent on electricity The answer is simple – electricity allows modern appliances and more convenience in our lives. What would life be like if we went back to the time before electricity Life was much harder than, and electricity has made modern life possible. The problem with being dependent on electricity is the fact that much of the electricity we use is created in coal powered energy plants. When coal is burned, greenhouse gases and pollution are emitted that cause environmental harm. Going back to no electricity is not a viable option, but we can lower our electricity consumption and find other ways to create electricity using alternative energy sources instead of coal and other fossil fuels. Waste to energy programs are one way that needed electricity can be produced without using fossil fuels, and there are many others.

The basics of electricity production are not as complex as many believe. Electricity can be produced using many other methods besides ones which require fossil fuels. Wind power, solar power, ocean power, and geothermal power are all alternative energy sources which can produce electricity. The basic production is the same though because all electricity starts with electrons, and a conductor which allows these electrons to travel through the material. Without a conductor it is not possible for electricity to travel from one place to another. A generator is used to move the electricity in the desired direction and flow. For electricity to be produced an electrical circuit is needed. Electricity production is possible using alternative energy sources instead of coal or other fossil fuels, and this will give many benefits, including environmental benefits.

Energy Conservation in a Few Simple Steps – Save the Planet for the Generations to Come

The world is no longer a safe place to live.

But YOU can make it safer by acting a little more responsibly and sensibly.

YOUR little contributions toward energy conservation can make big difference for your home, for your family, and for this planet. Discover in this article a few easy ideas to get started in making your planet a better living place for the future generations.

Energy conservation and your environment

By saving energy you can have a fatter bank balance. But more than that, individual efforts for energy conservation mean cleaner and greener society as a whole.

Energy conservation means lowering the demands of such fossil fuels as coal, oil, and natural gas.

Drops in the use of fossil fuels means lower production of pollutants like carbon dioxide – the deadliest of all greenhouse emissions.

Energy conservation – a necessity, not an option

Did you know Americans as a whole expend a million dollars worth of energy every minute, night and day, every day of the year!

A little cut in this expenditure and pollutants are lesser by thousands of pounds!

And on the personal front – you can save a significant dollar amount on your annual energy bills.

Follow the simple steps described below and make the earth a better place for your grand children.

Energy Conservation Why It’s So Important

As someone that has to pay bills each month, you already know the importance of energy conservation. There is no way for you to have not noticed that your bills have been increasing. It has happened and is one thing that you just should consider doing. But, energy conservation is not always something that is on our minds. If you find yourself only thinking about it when the bills for the month arrive, then you may be missing the boat.

Why You Need To Know

Energy conservation is helpful in a number of ways to each of us. The most profound way that affects us directly is the cost. If you just turn off a few lights, you may not notice it. But, if you do several things to keep yourself in line with your energy goals, you may find yourself able to really save money here. Energy costs continue to rise and even if they slow down in that rise, they are not likely to come down. If you want to cut your bill down, then, you must use less energy.

Yet, there are other reasons for conserving energy as well. Consider, for example, the fact that one of the most vital fuels that we all rely on is that of oil. Some scientists believe that we will run out of oil within the next 60 years. Can you image the cost of your bills then Still, consider the fact that many of these energy needs also produce toxins in the air. That makes them not only running out but also destroying the environment while they do it.

Energy Conservative Ways to Live – 5 Tips on Conserving Energy

Energy conservative-minded people, and those who want to be, are those of us out there who are looking to cut back… whether it be on the carbon footprint we continue to burn into our world, or on the expenses that our rate of energy consumption burns holes through our wallets. Yes, there are some of us out there who are more or less interested in caring for our planet than others, but I’m sure we all would like to keep our hard-earned energy dollars from blowing away in the breeze. This is the one reason to be energy conservative that we all seem to have in common. What are some ways we can seriously and drastically save on energy expenses Let’s take a look at the Big Five…

Energy Conservative Tip #1;

Let’s look at lights; If we change the type of lights we use, we can experience an immediate effect on lighting costs. This is due to how much energy each type of light uses, the two types I’m referring to being incandescent and florescent. There are those energy saving lights that we’ve all seen which cut down costs drastically and each last over a decade, and these of course would be your very best bet, but if these little sizeable investments are beyond your reach for the time being, there’s no need to worry much. Just the plain-old, everyday, garden variety florescent lighting will do just fine. Florescent light is far brighter, they actually last well over ten times longer than the regular old incandescent bulbs, and they consume only ¼ the amount of electricity that incandescent bulbs do! Superb areas for this type of lighting can be along stairways, down hallways, in bathrooms, or heck, even your living room and kitchen – why not convert the whole house Changing from incandescent to florescent lighting, you will see a very drastic difference in your lighting bill, and as immediately as next month.

Energy Conservation is the First Essential Step in Going Green

Most of the attention (and government money) these days is going to alternative fuel sources such as solar, wind, and biomass. Alternative fuel is a great focus and a great investment. As a nation, we must push ahead and become independent of fossil fuels and other less sustainable forms. However, what do we accomplish when we create alternative fuels  AND continue to be wasteful

The missing piece, so often ignored is energy conservation.  Wikipedia defines this term as the practice of decreasing the quantity used. It may be achieved through efficient use resulting in a decreased need. Conservation in conjunction with alternative fuel will ultimately yield the best results.

Washington Elementary School District (WESD) in North Phoenix, Arizona agreed to design and implement a comprehensive conservation program in spring, 2008. WESD is a school district comprised of 32 elementary (K-8) campuses, 3 administrative campuses and 23,500 students. Like many other school districts in Arizona and around the country, WESD was facing large cuts in funding. There were not funds to use in putting alternative fuel sources such as solar on buildings, in building new structures or in constructing large retrofits of existing buildings. The conservation program they were talking about implementing focused almost exclusively on changing habits; changing the building culture to embrace energy conservation. The governing board and superintendent believed that rather than mandating conservation, more could be gained by empowering individual school campuses to create their own plans and by involving students, staff, parents and the entire school community in implementation.
